Upgradin...Generally agreed, but two minor comments:<br />Upgrading the existing track to to high speed specifications isn't possible, because the radius of the bends has to be considerably greater for high speed operation.<br />High speed trains are much less environmentally friendly than trains than operate at sensible speeds - a train doing 200mph uses 4 times as much energy per mile as a train doing 100mph does. We should instead change our culture to slow down a little...don't try to compete with air travel on speed - air travel isn't even very fast compared with existing rail over distances within the UK, when you allow for faffing around at airports, and travelling to and from the airport.Clivehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04567380633301501834noreply@blogger.com
